Honey Ginger Asian Meatballs (Stovetop Recipe)
If you’re looking for a simple dinner that’s full of flavor but easy to make on a busy weeknight, these Honey Ginger Asian Meatballs are a must-try! They’re sweet, savory, and slightly tangy — the perfect combination when served over a warm bed of rice. Plus, they come together quickly right on the stovetop, so no oven is needed!
(My husband and I love this recipe!)
Ingredients
For the Meatballs:
- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp coconut aminos
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp ground pepper (or to taste)
For the Sauce:
- ⅔ cup coconut aminos
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tsp tapioca flour (or arrowroot)
- 4 tbsp water
Instructions
- Mix the Meatballs:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, eggs, coconut aminos, garlic powder, ginger, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and roll into 1-inch balls. - Cook on the Stovetop:
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of oil. Cook the meatballs for about 8–10 minutes, turning occasionally until they’re browned and fully cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside. - Make the Sauce:
In the same skillet, whisk together coconut aminos, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ground ginger, and honey. Bring to a gentle simmer. - Thicken the Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix tapioca flour and water until smooth. Slowly whisk it into the sauce, stirring constantly until it thickens (about 2–3 minutes). - Coat the Meatballs:
Add the cooked meatballs back to the skillet and toss to coat them evenly in the sauce. Let them simmer for a couple more minutes to soak in the flavor. - Serve:
Spoon the saucy meatballs over warm rice or noodles and top with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- It’s dairy-free and made with clean, simple ingredients.
- You can make everything in one pan — less cleanup!
- The sauce is naturally sweetened with honey and thickened with tapioca for a glossy, sticky texture.
Quick Tip:
Want to make it even easier? Prepare the meatballs ahead of time and store them in the fridge. When ready to eat, just warm them up in the sauce!
